Per-app auto-switch and automation

Each preset has an automation section for the things that should happen around it: which apps it belongs to, what to launch when it activates, and how to treat the pointer while it runs. Set once, it means a game layout, a browser layout, and a music layout hand off to each other without you touching the app.

Auto-switch by app

Open the preset's automation section, Automation & Gaming Utilities in the editor.
Add the apps it belongs to, picked from the Applications folder.
Save. When one of those apps comes to the front, the preset activates on its own. When another app with its own preset comes to the front, that preset takes over.

Automatic switching is off globally until you turn it on in Settings; the app lists only take effect once it is. An app with no preset assigned leaves the current preset running, so a desktop preset with no app list acts as the fallback.

Launch on activate

A preset can open an app or a URL when it activates. Activate the Minecraft preset and Minecraft opens; activate a work preset and it opens the timesheet page. Presets you download or import have this cleared on import for safety, so add it deliberately afterwards.

Pointer handling

Confine cursor: Keeps the pointer on the main screen with a buffer in pixels from the edge, so a stick pushing right never carries the pointer onto a second display or out of a game window.
Auto-recenter: Moves the pointer back to the middle of the screen at an interval, which games with relative mouse look need so the stick never runs out of room.
Hide cursor: Hides the pointer while the preset is active, for games and presentations.
Sensitivity multiplier: Scales every analog row in the preset at once, so one setting makes a game preset faster or a drawing preset slower without touching each row.

Shortcuts

The Key field at the top of the editor gives the preset a system-wide shortcut: press it anywhere to switch to the preset, press it again to stop it. Settings, General has a global shortcut that toggles the most recent preset. And the menu bar icon lists every preset.

Questions

Can two presets claim the same app?

The first one in sidebar order wins. Give each app to one preset.

Does auto-switch work with full-screen games?

Yes. The switch happens when the game becomes the frontmost app, which it does when it launches.
