Questions
InputMapper for Mac
InputMapper is a Windows program with no Mac version. People used it for two jobs: making a PlayStation or other pad look like an Xbox controller to Windows games, and mapping it to keys and mouse. On a Mac the first job is already done by macOS, and the second is what InputConfig, the free mapper I make, is for.
Job one: getting games to see the pad
A Mac does not need an Xbox emulation layer. Mac games that support controllers read the DualSense, DualShock 4, Xbox, Switch Pro and MFi pads directly through Apple's Game Controller framework. Pair the pad in Bluetooth settings, or plug it in, and a controller game sees it. If a game still ignores it, connected but not working walks through why.
Job two: keys, mouse, touchpad and gyro
- Buttons to keys: any key or key combination, with turbo, toggle, hold and double tap.
- Stick to mouse: with deadzones and response curves.
- Touchpad to trackpad: on the DualSense and DualShock 4, one finger moves, a tap clicks, two fingers scroll.
- Gyro aim: on the DualSense, DualSense Edge and DualShock 4, set up here.
- Light bar: a colour and brightness, or a colour per preset so the pad shows which layout is running.
- Rumble as feedback on a binding, on the DualSense and on pads macOS drives haptics for.
Presets switch on their own when a game or app comes to the front, and the Smart Preset Maker has layouts for more than 450 games and apps.
InputConfig is free on the Mac App Store. macOS 14 or later, no account, no tracking, open source.
A note on InputMapper download sites
When I checked on 22 September 2026, the old inputmapper.com address redirected to an unrelated site. Be careful with any download that claims to be InputMapper, and especially with one labelled for Mac: there is no Mac version. InputConfig is on the Mac App Store, and its source is public on GitHub under the MIT licence.

Questions
Is there an InputMapper for Mac?
No. InputMapper is Windows only. On a Mac, PlayStation pads work natively in controller games, and InputConfig maps them to keys, mouse, touchpad and gyro.
Does InputConfig emulate an Xbox controller like InputMapper?
No. It does not create a virtual controller. Mac games read PlayStation, Xbox and Switch pads directly, so it is rarely needed on a Mac.
Is InputConfig free?
Yes. It is free and open source on the Mac App Store, for macOS 14 or later on Apple silicon and Intel. There is an optional tip that unlocks nothing.
