Hold & Double-Tap preset
This preset ships inside InputConfig, free on the Mac App Store. You don't have to make an account, there are no subscriptions, and nothing is locked. Optimized for Apple silicon.
Hold & Double-Tap shows how one control can carry three actions. A / Cross clicks, held for half a second it right-clicks, tapped twice it sends Return. B / Circle is Space, and Escape when held. LB / L1 is Tab, and Shift Tab on a double tap. For a controller with few buttons, or a hand that reaches few of them, this is how three buttons do the work of nine.
Each row carries a press, a hold, and a double tap, so three buttons do the work of nine.
Where it is in the app
It ships in the Feature Showcases folder of the sidebar. Activate it, or press Edit to see every row. The file below is the same preset, inactive and ungrouped.

3 rows. Button names are the Xbox / PlayStation pair the editor shows; a Switch Pro Controller fires by position. Options are the row settings that differ from the defaults.
Notes
- Timing. The hold threshold (500 ms here) and the double-tap window (300 ms) are in each row's Options. Lengthen both for a slower hand.
- Holds fire early. A hold fires when the threshold passes, not on release, so a long press feels immediate.
Lengthen the timings first if presses land as the wrong action.

To add one, drop the file on InputConfig's Dock icon, or see importing a preset. It arrives inactive, and any launch target in it is cleared.
