Keyboard & Mouse Input preset
This preset ships inside InputConfig, free on the Mac App Store. You don't have to make an account, there are no subscriptions, and nothing is locked. Optimized for Apple silicon.
Keyboard & Mouse Input needs no controller. Its inputs are the Mac's own keyboard and mouse: F13, F14 and F15, keys on full-size keyboards but not on a MacBook, open Mission Control, Spotlight and Play / Pause, and mouse buttons 4 and 5, the side buttons on most mice, go back and forward with Command [ and Command ]. InputConfig listens alongside macOS, so each key keeps its normal job too. For more side button setups, see mouse side buttons on Mac.
No controller: F13 to F15 and the two side buttons on a mouse drive the Mac.
Where it is in the app
It ships in the Feature Showcases folder of the sidebar. Activate it, or press Edit to see every row. The file below is the same preset, inactive and ungrouped.

5 rows. Button names are the Xbox / PlayStation pair the editor shows; a Switch Pro Controller fires by position. Options are the row settings that differ from the defaults.
Notes
- Swap in any key. Scan any key or mouse button, including a modifier pressed on its own.
- A macro deck. A spare numpad, F13 to F19, or a MIDI pad can carry a whole deck this way. The macro deck guide builds one.
- Listen-only. InputConfig listens to the keyboard and does not block or remap the key, so the front app still gets it. Every keyboard reports as one synthetic device id.
Pick keys nothing else uses, such as F13 to F19, because the key still does its normal job too.

To add one, drop the file on InputConfig's Dock icon, or see importing a preset. It arrives inactive, and any launch target in it is cleared.
