Built-in preset
Trackpad & Mouse preset
Trackpad & Mouse turns the Mac's own trackpad or mouse into an input. The two side buttons go back and forward, the middle click opens Mission Control, and a force click on the trackpad opens Launchpad. No controller is needed.
This preset ships inside InputConfig, free on the Mac App Store. macOS 14 or later, no account, no tracking, open source.

Where it is in the app
It ships inside InputConfig: open the sidebar and look in its folder, or search for it. Activate it, or press Edit to see every row. It is also here as a file, identical apart from being inactive and ungrouped, for anyone who deleted theirs or wants it on another Mac.

4 rows. Button names are the Xbox / PlayStation pair the editor shows; a Switch Pro Controller fires by position. Options are the row settings that differ from the defaults.
Notes
- No double back. The side buttons send Command [ and Command ], and their rows stop the buttons' own Back and Forward, so a browser does not jump two pages.
- Force click. It is read only while InputConfig is the front window, because macOS gives trackpad force to the front app alone. The buttons work from any app.
Expect force click to work only with InputConfig in front; that is macOS, not a setting.

To add a downloaded preset: drop the file on InputConfig's Dock icon, or click the … button next to any preset in the sidebar, choose Import Preset File, and pick the file. It lands in the sidebar, ready to activate or edit. Any launch target inside a preset file is cleared on import; add one yourself in the editor if you want it.
