Questions

Do SCUF controllers work on a Mac?

It depends on the model. SCUF lists the Mac for the Instinct, over Bluetooth only, and gives the pairing steps. The Reflex is built for the PS5 and pairs the way a DualSense does, though SCUF's page has no section for a Mac. The Envision is for Windows only, according to SCUF. Once one is paired, games with controller support see it, and a mapper covers the rest.

The facts about each controller come from SCUF's support pages, read on October 7, 2026. I make InputConfig, a free Mac app that maps a controller to keys and mouse. I have not tested a SCUF controller myself.

Know which SCUF you have

LineBuilt forWhat SCUF says about a Mac
InstinctXbox and PCCompatible, over Bluetooth only
ReflexPS5No Mac section. Its page covers PS5, Windows, iPhone and iPad, Android and Apple TV
EnvisionPCWindows 10 or later only

The line decides the answer, so find the name before anything else.

Pair an Instinct

  • You: Turn Bluetooth on in System Settings. Press and hold the Sync button on the controller, the one marked with three curved lines, for a few seconds until the Xbox button blinks.
  • macOS: Lists it in Bluetooth as Xbox Wireless Controller. Click Connect.
  • Check: The Xbox button stops blinking and stays lit.

Those are SCUF's own steps for a Mac. SCUF lists the Mac as Bluetooth only, where it lists both Bluetooth and a cable for Windows 10. To a Mac, an Instinct is an Xbox controller over Bluetooth. How to connect an Xbox controller to a Mac covers what macOS does with one.

Pair a Reflex

  • You: With the controller off, hold the Create button and the PS button together until the light around the touchpad flashes. Then open System Settings, Bluetooth.
  • macOS: Lists it as Wireless Controller, the name a DualSense uses. Click Connect.
  • Check: The light around the touchpad turns solid.

The button pair and the name are from SCUF's page, which gives them for Windows, iPhone and iPad. That page sends readers to each device's maker for DualSense support, and Apple has supported the DualSense since macOS 11.3. SCUF does not list the Mac for the Reflex, so treat this as the DualSense route and not as SCUF's promise. How to connect a PS5 controller to a Mac has the rest.

Leave the Envision for Windows

SCUF says the Envision is compatible with Windows 10 or later only, and that it needs Corsair's iCUE software to install the driver that makes the computer recognize it. There is no Mac route in SCUF's pages. An Envision is the one SCUF line with nothing to try on a Mac. If a Mac is where you play, an Instinct or a standard Xbox or PlayStation controller is the safer choice.

Map it for games without controller support

A paired Instinct, or a Reflex that macOS accepts, works by itself in Mac games that support controllers. For everything else, InputConfig turns the sticks, triggers and buttons into keys, mouse movement, clicks, scrolling and macros, and has ready layouts for more than 450 games and apps. Press a button with the Live Visualizer open to see how the Mac reports the controller. If macOS lists it under Game Controllers, InputConfig reads it with no setup. Your first preset has the steps.

Find out what the paddles send

A paddle on the back can reach a computer in one of two ways: as a button of its own, or as a copy of another button. Only the first kind can be given a separate job. In InputConfig, press Scan on a row and press a paddle. If the row fills with a face button or a stick click, the paddle is copying that button, and the Mac cannot tell the two apart. Scan answers the paddle question faster than any manual. Back buttons and paddles on a Mac goes through the cases.

If the Mac does not see it

Climb this ladder, smallest step first:

  1. Look in System Settings. Bluetooth for a wireless pad, and Game Controllers in the sidebar for one macOS accepts.
  2. Open the gamepad tester. The gamepad tester draws whatever a browser receives from the pad, with nothing to install.
  3. Open the Devices menu. In InputConfig, Devices, a pad the Mac can read is listed to tick, and one it cannot is grayed out with the reason.
  4. Check the cable. It has to carry data, not only power. Plug into the Mac directly, not through a hub.

Remove an old pairing in System Settings, Bluetooth, before pairing again. Pairing fresh fixes most cases where the controller is listed and nothing responds. Controller not recognized on a Mac goes further.

The short version

  • Instinct. Bluetooth, with the Sync button. Shows as Xbox Wireless Controller.
  • Reflex. Create and PS together. Shows as Wireless Controller. Not on SCUF's list for a Mac.
  • Envision. Windows only.

An Instinct is the SCUF that SCUF itself says works with a Mac.

Yes, over Bluetooth only, according to SCUF. Hold the Sync button until the Xbox button blinks, then connect Xbox Wireless Controller in System Settings, Bluetooth.

Does a SCUF Reflex work on a Mac?
