How the layout thinks
- Move and look. The left stick moves, the right stick looks, and the left stick click is sprint.
- Fight. The right trigger attacks, held for a charged heavy (left click). The left trigger blocks and aims ranged weapons (right click). The right bumper pushes, blocking and attacking together.
- Move. The bottom face button jumps, or dodges with a direction (Space), and the right crouches (Left Ctrl).
- Skills and tools. The top face button is the career skill (F), the left interacts (E), the left bumper quick-swaps weapons (Q), and the right stick click reloads or vents heat (R).
- D-pad. Up wields melee (1), down ranged (2), left uses the healing item (3), and right a potion or bomb (4).
- Team and menu. Create tags a target (T), and Escape is on Options.
Block, push and swing are three fingers, so a horde never catches your thumbs busy.
Tune it
- Career skill and tag. Both are already in: F on the top face button, T on Create.
- Turbo. Not on the melee. The swing has a rhythm.
Push on a bumper is the row that saves you when you are surrounded.
If the stream passes your controller
When GeForce NOW or your PC hands the game your pad, use its own scheme. Leave this preset off then, or every swing lands twice. Push once with the preset off, because rats that fly back mean the game reads your pad.
Warhammer: Vermintide 2 controller support: controller or keyboard
Steam's store page lists full controller support for Warhammer: Vermintide 2, so the game was made to be played on a controller, menus included. A keyboard and mouse work as well, and the choice is yours. On a Mac, use the game's own controller support first when it sees your pad; this layout is for a pad it does not see, or for buttons it will not let you move. If your controller is not working in Warhammer: Vermintide 2
When Warhammer: Vermintide 2 does not react to your controller on a Mac, climb this ladder, smallest step first:
- Check that the Mac sees the controller. Open the gamepad tester and press a button. If nothing lights up there, the problem is the connection, and a controller that is connected but not working covers that first.
- Press a button after the stream has started. A stream only picks up a controller that is paired with the Mac, and a browser shows a controller to a page only after a button press. - Play it from keys. If Warhammer: Vermintide 2 still ignores the pad, activate this layout. It sends the keyboard and mouse controls Warhammer: Vermintide 2 already reads. Turn the game's own controller option off while it runs, or a press can arrive twice. The layout works whether or not Warhammer: Vermintide 2 ever sees the controller.

Button names follow the Xbox / PlayStation pair shown in the editor, so A / Cross is the bottom face button on either pad. On a Switch Pro Controller the bottom button is labeled B; the mapping still fires on position.
