The Path of Exile 2 layout is built into InputConfig, free on the Mac App Store. You don't have to make an account, there are no subscriptions, and nothing is locked. Optimized for Apple silicon.

Yes, Path of Exile 2 plays on a Mac with a controller, streamed from a Windows PC you own, and its full native gamepad support is the better way when the stream passes your pad. This layout is the fallback, and a good one, because PoE 2 added WASD movement: the left stick moves, the right stick aims, and the skills come off the triggers and face buttons without a cursor fighting you. Turn on WASD movement in the game's options first.

The layout, control by control

How the layout thinks

• Move. The left stick sends W, A, S and D, which needs WASD movement turned on in the game's options.
• Aim. The right stick moves the cursor at speed 20 across and 16 up and down.
• Skills. The primary skill on the right trigger (left click), the secondary on the left (right click). The movement skill on the bottom face button (Space), Q on the right, E on the top, the middle-mouse skill on the left. R and T on the left and right bumpers.
• Flasks. Flasks 1 to 4 on the D-pad, flask 5 on the left stick click.
• The rest. Hold the right stick click to highlight items on the ground (Option). Inventory on Back (I), menu on Start (Escape).

WASD movement is the option that makes a pad layout work.

Tune it

• Aim curve. Set Curve to Smooth on the four right-stick rows for finer cursor control.
• A slow pointer for the passive tree. Duplicate the four right-stick rows, set While also holding to a spare button on the copies, and give them half the speed.

The passive tree is where the slow pointer earns its row.

If the game sees the pad

Steam lists full controller support, and a stream normally passes your pad to it. Climb this ladder, smallest step first:

1. Try the stream on its own. Leave the preset off and push the left stick. If you move, use the game's own scheme.
2. Activate the layout. If nothing moves, press Activate, and the pad sends the keys and clicks above.
3. Turn one off if presses double. If one press does two things, the game reads the pad and the preset at once. Press Deactivate.

Use the native gamepad mode first, and keep this layout as the fallback.

Path of Exile 2 controller support: controller or keyboard

Steam's store page lists full controller support for Path of Exile 2, so the game was made to be played on a controller, menus included. A keyboard and mouse work as well, and the choice is yours. On a Mac, use the game's own controller support first when it sees your pad; this layout is for a pad it does not see, or for buttons it will not let you move. Full support listed means the controller is a first-class way to play Path of Exile 2.

If your controller is not working in Path of Exile 2

When Path of Exile 2 does not react to your controller on a Mac, climb this ladder, smallest step first:

1. Check that the Mac sees the controller. Open the gamepad tester and press a button. If nothing lights up there, the problem is the connection, and a controller that is connected but not working covers that first.
2. Press a button after the stream has started. A stream only picks up a controller that is paired with the Mac, and a browser shows a controller to a page only after a button press. 3. Play it from keys. If Path of Exile 2 still ignores the pad, activate this layout. It sends the keyboard and mouse controls Path of Exile 2 already reads. Turn the game's own controller option off while it runs, or a press can arrive twice. The layout works whether or not Path of Exile 2 ever sees the controller.

Get it in two clicks

1. Get InputConfig free on the Mac App Store, open it, and click Smart Preset Maker on the welcome screen.
2. Search for Path of Exile 2 and pick it. The layout is created as a preset in your sidebar, named and ready.
3. Press Activate. Every row can be changed afterwards: the editor's Scan button rebinds any control the moment you touch it.

To check the controller itself first, the gamepad tester shows every button and stick live in your browser.

Path of Exile 2 controls: every button and the key it sends

The Sends column is Path of Exile 2's default keyboard and mouse controls, as this layout expects them. If you changed a key in the game's settings, change the same row in InputConfig.

Button names follow the Xbox / PlayStation pair shown in the editor, so A / Cross is the bottom face button on either pad. On a Switch Pro Controller the bottom button is labeled B; the mapping still fires on position.
