inZOI on a Mac with a controller
The inZOI layout is built into InputConfig, free on the Mac App Store. You don't have to make an account, there are no subscriptions, and nothing is locked. Optimized for Apple silicon.
On a Mac: On Steam for Mac, Apple silicon only: the Steam page asks for an M1 or later, 16 GB of memory, and macOS 15 Sequoia, and recommends an M3. Steam lists partial controller support. This layout plays the keyboard and mouse game from a pad, for the screens the game's own pad support does not reach.
Yes, inZOI runs on a Mac: it is on Steam as an Apple silicon build, so there is nothing to stream. Steam lists partial controller support, which usually means some screens still want a mouse, and this layout covers all of them from a pad. It is the Sims layout, because a life sim is pointer work.

The layout, control by control
How the layout thinks
- Pointer. The left stick moves the pointer at speed 16.
- Camera. The right stick pans with W, A, S and D.
- Click. The right trigger selects (left click), the left trigger interacts (right click).
- Time. Pause and play on the bottom face button (Space), normal, fast and faster on the right, left and top (1, 2, 3).
- Zoom and menu. The left bumper zooms out and the right zooms in. Menu on Start (Escape).
A slow pointer on a stick suits some hands better than a mouse.
Tune it
- A slow pointer for build mode. Duplicate the four left-stick rows, set While also holding to a spare button on the copies, and give them half the speed.
- Camera rotate. The D-pad is empty. Put the rotate keys there.
Half speed behind one button is what build mode needs.
If the game sees the pad
If the game's own controller scheme does what you need, use it, with this preset off. This layout is for the screens it does not reach. If both react to one press, turn one off.
Partial pad support plus this layout covers the whole game.
inZOI controller support: controller or keyboard
Steam's store page lists partial controller support for inZOI: it plays on a controller, but some parts, such as a launcher, text entry or a menu, still expect a keyboard or a mouse. This layout sends keys and mouse movement from the pad, which can cover the parts the game's own support leaves out. With partial support, a layout fills the gaps the game leaves.
From Steam's listing, checked in October 2026. Every game's listing is in Mac games with controller support.
If your controller is not working in inZOI
When inZOI does not react to your controller on a Mac, climb this ladder, smallest step first:
- Check that the Mac sees the controller. Open the gamepad tester and press a button. If nothing lights up there, the problem is the connection, and a controller that is connected but not working covers that first.
- Play it from keys. If inZOI still ignores the pad, activate this layout. It sends the keyboard and mouse controls inZOI already reads. Turn the game's own controller option off while it runs, or a press can arrive twice. The layout works whether or not inZOI ever sees the controller.
Get it in two clicks
- Get InputConfig free on the Mac App Store, open it, and click Smart Preset Maker on the welcome screen.
- Search for inZOI and pick it. The layout is created as a preset in your sidebar, named and ready.
- Press Activate. Every row can be changed afterwards: the editor's Scan button rebinds any control the moment you touch it.
To check the controller itself first, the gamepad tester shows every button and stick live in your browser.
inZOI controls: every button and the key it sends
The Sends column is inZOI's default keyboard and mouse controls, as this layout expects them. If you changed a key in the game's settings, change the same row in InputConfig.

| Controller | Sends | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Left stick left | Mouse motion left (speed 16) | Cursor left |
| Left stick right | Mouse motion right (speed 16) | Cursor right |
| Left stick up | Mouse motion up (speed 16) | Cursor up |
| Left stick down | Mouse motion down (speed 16) | Cursor down |
| Right stick left | A | Pan left (A) |
| Right stick right | D | Pan right (D) |
| Right stick up | W | Pan up (W) |
| Right stick down | S | Pan down (S) |
| Right trigger | Left click | Select (left click) |
| Left trigger | Right click | Interact (right click) |
| A / Cross | Space | Pause / play (Space) |
| B / Circle | 1 | Normal speed (1) |
| X / Square | 2 | Fast (2) |
| Y / Triangle | 3 | Faster (3) |
| LB / L1 | Scroll down | Zoom out |
| RB / R1 | Scroll up | Zoom in |
| Start / Options | Escape | Menu (Esc) |
Button names follow the Xbox / PlayStation pair shown in the editor, so A / Cross is the bottom face button on either pad. On a Switch Pro Controller the bottom button is labeled B; the mapping still fires on position.
