The layout, control by control
How the layout thinks
- Move. The left stick moves the player by driving the mouse.
- Pass and shoot. Short pass (right click) is Cross, through ball (A) Square, lob and cross (S) Circle, and shoot (left click) Triangle.
- Modifiers. The left trigger is the finesse modifier (D), R1 the run and switch modifier (Left Shift), and L1 the skill move modifier (middle mouse button).
- Defense. The same buttons contain, tackle and slide. Back changes player (Left Shift).
- Menu. Options pauses.
The left stick is the mouse, and in this game the mouse is your feet.
Tune it
- Mouse speed. The move rows run at Speed 20. Raise it if the player feels slow to turn, lower it for dribbling.
- Sprint. The right trigger is free. Give it the game's sprint key from your keyboard settings.
Set the mouse speed first, because it decides how the player turns.
If the stream passes your controller
When the stream hands the game your pad, use EA's controller scheme and keep this preset off, or every press lands twice. The layout is the fallback, not the way to play.

If your controller is not working in EA Sports FC 24
When EA Sports FC 24 does not react to your controller on a Mac, climb this ladder, smallest step first:
- Check that the Mac sees the controller. Open the gamepad tester and press a button. If nothing lights up there, the problem is the connection, and a controller that is connected but not working covers that first.
- Press a button after the stream has started. A stream only picks up a controller that is paired with the Mac, and a browser shows a controller to a page only after a button press. Button names follow the Xbox / PlayStation pair shown in the editor, so A / Cross is the bottom face button on either pad. On a Switch Pro Controller the bottom button is labeled B; the mapping still fires on position.
