Built-in preset

Steam Controller (2026) preset

The built-in preset for Valve's 2026 Steam Controller, on a USB cable, over Bluetooth, or through its Steam Controller Puck (experimental). The right trackpad moves the pointer like a Mac trackpad, and a tap or a press on it clicks. The right trigger clicks and the left trigger right-clicks. The left trackpad and the right stick scroll.

Plug in, pair over Bluetooth, or use the Steam Controller Puck; quit Steam first

Where it is in the app

It ships inside InputConfig: open the sidebar and look in its folder, or search for it. Activate it, or press Edit to see every row. It is also here as a file, identical apart from being inactive and ungrouped, for anyone who deleted theirs or wants it on another Mac.

Notes

  • Buttons. A is Return, B is Escape, X is Tab and Y is Space. The bumpers send Command [ and Command ] for back and forward, the Steam button opens Spotlight, and the back buttons L4 and R4 hold Shift and Option.
  • Quit Steam first. Steam takes the controller over while it runs.
  • The 2015 controller. The original Steam Controller has its own preset.

Support for this controller is experimental in 1.6, so close Steam and expect rough edges.

Download

To add a downloaded preset: drop the file on InputConfig's Dock icon, or click the … button next to any preset in the sidebar, choose Import Preset File, and pick the file. It lands in the sidebar, ready to activate or edit. Any launch target inside a preset file is cleared on import; add one yourself in the editor if you want it.
