Blasphemous on a Mac with a controller
The Blasphemous layout is built into InputConfig, free on the Mac App Store. You don't have to make an account, there are no subscriptions, and nothing is locked. Optimized for Apple silicon.
On a Mac: Native Mac version on Steam. Blasphemous has controller support of its own. Use it when it sees your pad. This layout is for controllers it does not recognize.
Yes, Blasphemous runs natively on the Mac and sees most pads on its own. This layout is the fallback for the ones it does not: move on the stick, jump on the big button, dodge next to it, the sword on the right trigger. The keys match the game's defaults, so nothing needs changing.

The layout, control by control
How the layout thinks
- Move. The left stick and the D-pad both move with A and D. D-pad up enters a door (W), down drops (S).
- Jump and roll. Jump on the bottom face button (Space), roll on the right (Shift).
- Weapons. Primary weapon on the right trigger (left click), secondary on the left (right click).
- Skills and use. Skill 1 on the left face button (Q), skill 2 on the top (E). Interact on the left bumper (R).
- Menu. Menu on Start (Escape).
The parry is the attack timed against a hit, so there is nothing extra to bind.
Tune it
- Map. Back is empty. Put the map key there.
- A buzz on the parry. Turn on Vibrate in the primary weapon row's Options, if you like feeling each swing.
Back is the free button, and the map belongs there.
If the game sees the pad
The Mac version supports pads natively and lets you remap them. Climb this ladder, smallest step first:
- Check macOS. System Settings, Game Controllers in the sidebar, should list the pad.
- Check Steam Input. If the pad is there but the game ignores it, Steam Input settings for the game are the usual cause. This fix covers it.
- Activate the layout. If the game still does not see it, press Activate and play from the keyboard binds.
Blasphemous already remaps a pad natively, so this layout is only for a pad the game cannot see.
If your controller is not working in Blasphemous
When Blasphemous does not react to your controller on a Mac, climb this ladder, smallest step first:
- Check that the Mac sees the controller. Open the gamepad tester and press a button. If nothing lights up there, the problem is the connection, and a controller that is connected but not working covers that first.
- Check the Steam Input setting for Blasphemous. In Steam, open Blasphemous, Properties, Controller, and change the Steam Input override. A controller that works in Steam but not in the game goes through each choice.
- Play it from keys. If Blasphemous still ignores the pad, activate this layout. It sends the keyboard and mouse controls Blasphemous already reads. Turn the game's own controller option off while it runs, or a press can arrive twice. The layout works whether or not Blasphemous ever sees the controller.
Get it in two clicks
- Get InputConfig free on the Mac App Store, open it, and click Smart Preset Maker on the welcome screen.
- Search for Blasphemous and pick it. The layout is created as a preset in your sidebar, named and ready.
- Press Activate. Every row can be changed afterwards: the editor's Scan button rebinds any control the moment you touch it.
To check the controller itself first, the gamepad tester shows every button and stick live in your browser.
Blasphemous controls: every button and the key it sends
The Sends column is Blasphemous's default keyboard and mouse controls, as this layout expects them. If you changed a key in the game's settings, change the same row in InputConfig.

| Controller | Sends | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Left stick left | A | Move left (A) |
| Left stick right | D | Move right (D) |
| D-pad left | A | Move left |
| D-pad right | D | Move right |
| A / Cross | Space | Jump (Space) |
| B / Circle | Shift (Left) | Roll (Shift) |
| Right trigger | Left click | Primary weapon |
| Left trigger | Right click | Secondary weapon |
| X / Square | Q | Skill 1 (Q) |
| Y / Triangle | E | Skill 2 (E) |
| LB / L1 | R | Use / interact (R) |
| D-pad up | W | Up / enter door (W) |
| D-pad down | S | Down / drop (S) |
| Start / Options | Escape | Menu (Esc) |
Button names follow the Xbox / PlayStation pair shown in the editor, so A / Cross is the bottom face button on either pad. On a Switch Pro Controller the bottom button is labeled B; the mapping still fires on position.
Questions
Does Blasphemous run on a Mac?
Yes, natively on Steam, with controller support of its own. This layout is for pads it does not see.
Is Blasphemous better with a controller or keyboard?
Most people play it on a controller: it is a 2D action game built around a parry and a dodge, and the Mac version supports pads natively and lets you remap them. Keyboard works and can be rebound too. If the game does not see your pad, this layout sends the keyboard binds from it.
Why does Blasphemous on Mac not see my controller?
Check that the Mac sees it first: System Settings, Game Controllers in the sidebar. If it is there but the game ignores it, Steam Input settings for the game are the usual cause. If the game still does not see it, activate this layout and play from the keyboard binds.
Why is my controller not working in Blasphemous on a Mac?
First check the Mac itself sees the controller, with the gamepad tester. If it does and Blasphemous still ignores it, change the game's Steam Input override in its Steam Properties, and if that does not help, activate the Blasphemous layout in InputConfig, which sends the game's keyboard and mouse controls from the controller.
Can I play Blasphemous on an M1 Mac or a MacBook Air?
Blasphemous has a native Mac version, and its minimum requirements are listed on its Steam store page, so check your Mac against that list. I have not tested it on each Mac. The controller layout itself works the same on any Mac that runs InputConfig.
