Settings

Settings opens from the gear at the top right of the window or from the menu bar icon. There are four tabs: General, Advanced, Controllers, and About.

General

Accessibility permission: Shows whether macOS has granted the permission the app needs to send keystrokes and mouse events, with a button to the right pane of System Settings if not.
Text size: Default, Large, Extra Large, or Huge. Scales every label, button, and row in the app, and layouts reflow to fit. It stacks on top of the system setting.
Bold text: Renders all text at a heavier weight for contrast.
Reduce transparency: Replaces the frosted-glass window and sheet backgrounds with solid ones, so text never sits over whatever is behind the window.
Reduce motion: Stops the decorative animations without touching the visualizer's real data.
Emergency stop: The system-wide shortcut, Control Option Command period by default, and the controller hold.
Global shortcut: Toggles the most recent preset from anywhere.

Advanced

Polling rate: How often controllers are read: 60, 120, 180, or 240 Hz. 120 is the default; 180 and 240 are for aiming and cost a little CPU, and very high rates can make the editor hitch while a preset runs.
Auto-switch on power source: A separate rate for battery and for mains, switched the moment macOS reports a power change, so a laptop stretches its session without a restart.
Dock and menu bar: Show the app in the Dock, in the menu bar, or both. Menu-bar-only keeps it out of the way while presets run.
Launch at login: Starts the app with the Mac so auto-switch and shortcuts are ready immediately.
Automatic preset switching: The global switch for per-app auto-switch. It is off until you turn it on; the app lists in each preset only take effect once it is.

Controllers

Lists every connected controller with its slot number, battery, connection type, and whether motion is available. Raw HID controllers found outside Apple's framework appear here too, which is how you confirm an unusual pad was picked up.

About

The version and build, the changelog, the tip jar, and a note on why the app exists. The changelog is the same text as the What's New sheet that appears after an update.

Questions

Which polling rate for games?

120 or 240 Hz for aiming with a stick or gyro. Desktop use is fine at 60.

Does menu-bar-only mode still allow the editor?

Yes. Click the icon and choose the preset, or open the window from the popover's button; the window comes back and the Dock icon stays hidden.
