Deadzone visualizer

Drag the stick, or connect a controller and press any button on it to use its real left stick. The plot shows the raw position, the inner deadzone where nothing happens, the outer deadzone where output reaches full, and the curve between them. Record a few seconds at rest and it suggests an inner deadzone that hides the drift.

The curve shows output against stick travel after the deadzones are removed. Smooth keeps the first part of the travel gentle, which suits pointing and shaky hands; Aggressive reaches full speed early, for turning in games. With Variable sensitivity off, anything past the inner deadzone is full output.

Putting the numbers in InputConfig

  1. Open the preset in the editor and expand Options on a stick row (or use the stick settings button in the slot header to set every axis at once).
  2. Set the inner deadzone to the suggested value, or a little above the drift you saw here.
  3. Set the outer deadzone to where the stick comfortably stops. Anything past it counts as full.
  4. Pick the curve and switch Variable Sensitivity on for pointer and scroll rows.
  5. Press Calibrate on the row to confirm with the app's own live plot.

The curves here are illustrative shapes; the app's own plot is the reference. Nothing on this page is sent anywhere, and the Gamepad API only reads the controller while this tab is open.
