Enjoyable for Mac

Enjoyable is a free, open-source Mac joystick-to-keyboard mapper by Joe Wreschnig, last updated in 2016. It still launches on many Macs but predates Apple silicon, the Accessibility permission model, and modern controllers, so Bluetooth DualSense and Xbox pads are hit and miss, there is no MIDI, no touchpad, no gyro, and nothing is being fixed.

Steps

1. Install InputConfig and allow Accessibility access.
2. Pair the controller.
3. Pick a preset or build one with Scan.
4. Activate.

The free Mac alternative

Enjoyable mapped buttons to keys and a stick to the mouse and asked for nothing else, which is why people still look for it. InputConfig does the same job on current macOS, adds every input a modern controller has, and is also free and open source. Switching in five minutes

1. Install InputConfig from the Mac App Store and allow Accessibility access.
2. Pair the controller if it is not already.
3. Pick a built-in preset or search the Smart Preset Maker for the game or app.
4. Open the editor to change any row: Scan a button, choose what it sends.
5. Activate. The menu bar icon and the emergency stop turn it off instantly.
