Space Marine 2 on a Mac with a controller
The Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 layout is built into InputConfig, free on the Mac App Store. You don't have to make an account, there are no subscriptions, and nothing is locked. Optimized for Apple silicon.

How the layout thinks
- Move and look. The left stick moves, the right stick looks, and the left stick click is sprint.
- Shoot. The right trigger fires (left click). The left trigger aims and takes the heavy stance (middle click). Reload (R) is the left face button.
- Melee. Melee (right click) is the right face button. Hold the left bumper to parry and block (C).
- Dodge. The bottom face button dodges on a tap and rolls on a double tap (Space).
- Abilities and lock. The right bumper is the ability (Q) and the right stick click locks on (X).
- Weapons and the D-pad. The top face button swaps weapons (V), D-pad left is the primary (2) and Create the secondary (1). D-pad up executes and interacts (E), down uses a stimm (F), and right throws a grenade (G). Escape is on Options.
Fire is a finger and melee is a thumb, so you can do both in the same second.
Tune it
- Execute. It is D-pad up. Reach for it the moment an enemy staggers.
- Camera. Lower the look rows' Speed from 16 to about 14 and 10.
A calmer camera makes the parry window easier to see coming.
If the stream passes your controller
When the stream gives the game your pad, use its own scheme. Switch this preset off for that, since each press would otherwise land twice. Parry once with the preset off, and if it parries, play on the game's own scheme.
Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 controller support: controller or keyboard
Steam's store page lists full controller support for Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2, so the game was made to be played on a controller, menus included. A keyboard and mouse work as well, and the choice is yours. On a Mac, use the game's own controller support first when it sees your pad; this layout is for a pad it does not see, or for buttons it will not let you move. If your controller is not working in Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2
When Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 does not react to your controller on a Mac, climb this ladder, smallest step first:
- Check that the Mac sees the controller. Open the gamepad tester and press a button. If nothing lights up there, the problem is the connection, and a controller that is connected but not working covers that first.
- Press a button after the stream has started. A stream only picks up a controller that is paired with the Mac, and a browser shows a controller to a page only after a button press. Button names follow the Xbox / PlayStation pair shown in the editor, so A / Cross is the bottom face button on either pad. On a Switch Pro Controller the bottom button is labeled B; the mapping still fires on position.
