Noita on a Mac with a controller
The Noita layout is built into InputConfig, free on the Mac App Store. You don't have to make an account, there are no subscriptions, and nothing is locked. Optimized for Apple silicon.
On a Mac: No Mac version. It streams to a Mac from a Windows PC you own. The stream normally passes a controller to the game's native scheme. This layout is for streams that do not see the pad. It starts from the Terraria template, and Noita's kick, throw and inventory are its own keys, so give those rows new outputs.
Yes, Noita plays on a Mac with a controller, streamed from a Windows PC you own. Noita is a wand and a physics engine, and the wand is the right stick: aim, and cast on the trigger. This layout starts from Terraria's, so a few rows need Noita's keys, and then it kills you the same way it kills everyone.

The layout, control by control
How the layout thinks
- Move. The left stick sends A and D for left and right.
- Wand. The right stick aims the cursor at speed 18. The right trigger casts (left click), the left trigger is the secondary (right click).
- Face buttons. The bottom sends Space, the template's jump. The right sends S, the left E (Terraria's grapple) and the top H (Terraria's heal).
- Wands. Wands 1 to 4 on the D-pad. Menu on Start (Escape).
The right stick is the wand, so aiming feels like pointing.
Tune it
- Kick, throw and inventory. Set the left, top and right face buttons' outputs to Noita's kick, throw and inventory keys.
- Levitate. Check the bottom button's Space against Noita's levitate key, and change it if they differ.
- Aim curve. Set Curve to Smooth on the four right-stick rows, for finer control on small pushes.
- A slow pointer for wand editing. Duplicate the four right-stick rows, set While also holding to a spare button on the copies, and give them a low speed.
A Smooth curve on the right stick makes small wand corrections easy.
If the game sees the pad
Steam lists partial controller support for the Windows game, and a stream normally passes your pad to it. When it does not, or when you want the wand on a mouse-style cursor, use this layout. With both running, every press does two things.
This layout fills the gaps that partial pad support leaves.
Noita controller support: controller or keyboard
Steam's store page lists partial controller support for Noita: it plays on a controller, but some parts, such as a launcher, text entry or a menu, still expect a keyboard or a mouse. This layout sends keys and mouse movement from the pad, which can cover the parts the game's own support leaves out. With partial support, a layout fills the gaps the game leaves.
From Steam's listing, checked in October 2026. Every game's listing is in Mac games with controller support.
If your controller is not working in Noita
When Noita does not react to your controller on a Mac, climb this ladder, smallest step first:
- Check that the Mac sees the controller. Open the gamepad tester and press a button. If nothing lights up there, the problem is the connection, and a controller that is connected but not working covers that first.
- Press a button after the stream has started. A stream only picks up a controller that is paired with the Mac, and a browser shows a controller to a page only after a button press. Start Noita, then press any button. Streaming from your own PC has its own checks, in how to stream PC games to a Mac with a controller.
- Play it from keys. If Noita still ignores the pad, activate this layout. It sends the keyboard and mouse controls Noita already reads. Turn the game's own controller option off while it runs, or a press can arrive twice. The layout works whether or not Noita ever sees the controller.
Get it in two clicks
- Get InputConfig free on the Mac App Store, open it, and click Smart Preset Maker on the welcome screen.
- Search for Noita and pick it. The layout is created as a preset in your sidebar, named and ready.
- Press Activate. Every row can be changed afterwards: the editor's Scan button rebinds any control the moment you touch it.
To check the controller itself first, the gamepad tester shows every button and stick live in your browser.
Noita controls: every button and the key it sends
The Sends column is Noita's default keyboard and mouse controls, as this layout expects them. If you changed a key in the game's settings, change the same row in InputConfig.

| Controller | Sends | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Left stick left | A | Move left |
| Left stick right | D | Move right |
| Right stick right | Mouse motion right (speed 18) | Aim cursor right |
| Right stick left | Mouse motion left (speed 18) | Aim cursor left |
| Right stick down | Mouse motion down (speed 18) | Aim cursor down |
| Right stick up | Mouse motion up (speed 18) | Aim cursor up |
| Right trigger | Left click | Use / attack / dig |
| Left trigger | Right click | Secondary use |
| A / Cross | Space | Jump |
| B / Circle | S | Down / drop through (S) |
| X / Square | E | Grapple / hook (E) |
| Y / Triangle | H | Quick heal (H) |
| D-pad up | 1 | Hotbar slot 1 |
| D-pad right | 2 | Hotbar slot 2 |
| D-pad down | 3 | Hotbar slot 3 |
| D-pad left | 4 | Hotbar slot 4 |
| Start / Options | Escape | Menu (Esc) |
Button names follow the Xbox / PlayStation pair shown in the editor, so A / Cross is the bottom face button on either pad. On a Switch Pro Controller the bottom button is labeled B; the mapping still fires on position.
Questions
Does Noita run on a Mac?
Noita does not run natively on a Mac. It streams from a Windows PC you own, and the stream usually passes a controller through. This layout covers a stream that does not see the pad.
Does Noita have controller support?
Partly. Steam lists partial controller support for the Windows game, and a stream normally passes your pad to it. When it does not, or when you want the wand on a mouse-style cursor, this layout sends the keyboard and mouse Noita was built around.
Does Noita have controller support?
Partly. Steam lists partial controller support for Noita: it plays on a controller, but some screens still expect a keyboard or mouse.
Is Noita better with a controller or a keyboard?
A controller works for most of it. Steam lists partial controller support for Noita, so some screens still expect a keyboard or a mouse, and a layout like this one can put those on the pad.
Why is my controller not working in Noita on a Mac?
First check the Mac itself sees the controller, with the gamepad tester. If it does and Noita still ignores it, activate the Noita layout in InputConfig, which sends the game's keyboard and mouse controls from the controller.
Can I play Noita on an M1 Mac or a MacBook Air?
Yes, through a stream. Noita runs on the other end, on a cloud service or your own PC, so the Mac only plays the video and sends your input. An M1 MacBook Air streams it like any other Mac.
Does Noita run in CrossOver on a Mac?
I have not tested Noita in CrossOver. CodeWeavers keeps a compatibility list where players report how each Windows game runs. If it runs and the controller is not seen, this layout plays it from the keys and mouse.
