Vivaldi from a game controller
The Vivaldi layout is built into InputConfig, free on the Mac App Store. You don't have to make an account, there are no subscriptions, and nothing is locked. Optimized for Apple silicon.
On a Mac: Vivaldi starts with Chrome-style Mac shortcuts and lets you change every one in Settings, Keyboard. A row that no longer matches your setup needs its output changed to your key.
Yes, Vivaldi works from a game controller on a Mac with the browser layout, because its default keys match Chrome's. Vivaldi lets you change every shortcut, so a row you have rebound in Vivaldi just needs its output changed to match. Quick Commands is what makes Vivaldi especially good from a pad.
The layout, control by control
How the layout thinks
- Point and click. The left stick moves the pointer, the right trigger clicks and the left trigger right-clicks. The right stick scrolls.
- Move through pages. Back, Forward, Reload and New Tab on the face buttons.
- Tabs. Close tab on the left bumper, the address bar on the right, previous and next tab on the D-pad, Escape on Start.
If you changed a shortcut in Vivaldi's Settings, Keyboard, set the matching row's output to your key.
Reach everything with Quick Commands
Quick Commands is a search box for every Vivaldi command, open tab, bookmark and history entry.
- You: Find the Quick Commands key in Vivaldi's Settings, Keyboard, and put it on the touchpad press or a stick click. Add a Start Dictation row beside it.
- InputConfig: Opens Quick Commands with one press and starts dictation with the other.
- Check: Press both, say a tab's name or a command, and press Return.
Tab stacks and the side panels stay pointer work, easier with a lower Pointer speed on the preset's page. One button and your voice reach anything in the browser.
Get it in two clicks
- Get InputConfig free on the Mac App Store, open it, and click Smart Preset Maker on the welcome screen.
- Search for Vivaldi and pick it. The layout is created as a preset in your sidebar, named and ready.
- Press Activate. Every row can be changed afterwards: the editor's Scan button rebinds any control the moment you touch it.

Questions
Does this match Chrome's layout?
Yes, by default. If you have rebound a key in Vivaldi, change that row's output to match.
