Enshrouded on a Mac with a controller
The Enshrouded layout is built into InputConfig, free on the Mac App Store. You don't have to make an account, there are no subscriptions, and nothing is locked. Optimized for Apple silicon.
On a Mac: No Mac version. It runs on Apple silicon through CrossOver or the Game Porting Toolkit. The game has native gamepad support, which a wrapper often does not pass.
Yes, Enshrouded plays on a Mac with a controller, in a wrapper and with this layout. The game has good pad support of its own, but the wrapper is where the pad gets lost. This is the keyboard game from a controller, and the glider on a held jump is the bit that makes it feel right: press to jump, hold to fly.

The layout, control by control
How the layout thinks
- Move and look. The left stick walks, the right stick looks, and the left stick click is sprint.
- Fight. The right trigger attacks and uses an item, the left trigger blocks, parries and aims. The top face button readies the ranged weapon (Q), and the right stick click toggles lock-on (Tab).
- Move fast. Jump is the bottom face button. Hold it to open the glider. Dodge (Left Ctrl) is the right face button, and the left bumper toggles sneak (C).
- Hands. Interact and grapple (E) is the left face button, and crafting in the inventory (V) the right bumper.
- Bar and menus. The D-pad is action bar slots 1 to 4. Back opens the inventory (I) and Options the system menu.
Press jump to jump and hold it to fly, the same as on a pad.
Tune it
- Slots 5 to 8. Add them as chords on the D-pad.
- Map and journal. M and J are not in the layout. On a PlayStation pad, the touchpad press is a free home for one of them.
Four more action bar slots on a chord cover most builds.
If the wrapper passes your controller
If the game reacts to the pad on its own, play on its scheme and keep this preset off, because both at once make every press land twice. Using a controller with CrossOver games covers the wrapper side. If a held jump on the pad already opens the glider without this preset, leave the preset off.
Enshrouded controller support: controller or keyboard
Steam's store page lists full controller support for Enshrouded, so the game was made to be played on a controller, menus included. A keyboard and mouse work as well, and the choice is yours. On a Mac, use the game's own controller support first when it sees your pad; this layout is for a pad it does not see, or for buttons it will not let you move. Full support listed means the controller is a first-class way to play Enshrouded.
From Steam's listing, checked in October 2026. Every game's listing is in Mac games with controller support.
Get it in two clicks
- Get InputConfig free on the Mac App Store, open it, and click Smart Preset Maker on the welcome screen.
- Search for Enshrouded and pick it. The layout is created as a preset in your sidebar, named and ready.
- Press Activate. Every row can be changed afterwards: the editor's Scan button rebinds any control the moment you touch it.
To check the controller itself first, the gamepad tester shows every button and stick live in your browser.
Enshrouded controls: every button and the key it sends
The Sends column is Enshrouded's default keyboard and mouse controls, as this layout expects them. If you changed a key in the game's settings, change the same row in InputConfig.

Questions
Does Enshrouded run on a Mac?
Enshrouded does not run natively on a Mac. CrossOver and the Game Porting Toolkit run it. This layout is for wrappers that do not pass the controller.
Why is my controller not working in Enshrouded on Mac?
Enshrouded has native pad support, but on a Mac it runs inside CrossOver or the Game Porting Toolkit, and the wrapper often does not pass the controller through. This layout sends keyboard and mouse instead, which the wrapper does pass, with the glider on a held jump.
Does Enshrouded have controller support?
Yes. Steam lists full controller support for Enshrouded, so every part of the game can be played on a controller.
Is Enshrouded better with a controller or a keyboard?
Both work. Steam lists full controller support for Enshrouded, so it was made to be played on a controller, and a keyboard and mouse work as well.
Can I play Enshrouded on an M1 Mac or a MacBook Air?
Enshrouded has no Mac version, so it runs through a wrapper such as CrossOver or the Game Porting Toolkit, and how well depends on the Mac's chip and memory. I have not tested it on each Mac.
