Craft from a game controller
The Craft layout is built into InputConfig, free on the Mac App Store. You don't have to make an account, there are no subscriptions, and nothing is locked. Optimized for Apple silicon.
On a Mac: Craft reads keys from this layout like a keyboard. The search row sends Command P from the Notion layout. Check it against Craft's own search key.
Yes, you can read and tidy Craft documents on a Mac from a game controller: search on the big button, copy, paste and undo on the others, the pointer and scroll on the sticks. A Craft doc is read more than it is written, and the right stick reads. The search row comes from the Notion layout, so check it once.
The layout, control by control
How the layout thinks
- Find. Search (Command P, from the Notion layout) on the bottom face button.
- Edit. Copy on the right face button, paste on the left, undo on the top.
- Read. The right stick scrolls, the left stick is the pointer, the right trigger clicks, Escape is on Start.
Check the search row
- You: Press the bottom face button in Craft.
- InputConfig: Sends Command P.
- Check: If search does not open, look up Craft's search key in its Help menu and set the row's output to it.
Search is the one row worth checking, since the rest are the Mac's own edit keys.
Tune it
- Dictation. Add a Start Dictation row on a bumper. Both are free.
- New document. Put Command N on a stick click.
- Moving blocks. Pointer work, easier with a lower Pointer speed on the preset's page.
Read with the right stick, tidy with the face buttons, and leave the big rewrites for the keyboard.
Get it in two clicks
- Get InputConfig free on the Mac App Store, open it, and click Smart Preset Maker on the welcome screen.
- Search for Craft and pick it. The layout is created as a preset in your sidebar, named and ready.
- Press Activate. Every row can be changed afterwards: the editor's Scan button rebinds any control the moment you touch it.
Every binding, as a table

| Controller | Sends | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Left stick left | Mouse motion left (speed 16) | Cursor left |
| Left stick right | Mouse motion right (speed 16) | Cursor right |
| Left stick up | Mouse motion up (speed 16) | Cursor up |
| Left stick down | Mouse motion down (speed 16) | Cursor down |
| Right stick down | Scroll down | Scroll down |
| Right stick up | Scroll up | Scroll up |
| Right trigger | Left click | Click |
| A / Cross | Command (Left), P | Quick find (Cmd+P) |
| B / Circle | Command (Left), C | Copy |
| X / Square | Command (Left), V | Paste |
| Y / Triangle | Command (Left), Z | Undo |
| Start / Options | Escape | Close / Esc |
Button names follow the Xbox / PlayStation pair shown in the editor, so A / Cross is the bottom face button on either pad. On a Switch Pro Controller the bottom button is labeled B; the mapping still fires on position.
Questions
Does this match the Notion layout?
Yes, it has the same shape as the Notion layout. Both are search plus a pointer.
